How to Achieve Your 2019 New Year’s Resolutions!

The most important investments require TIME. Setting and achieving a resolution requires focus, effort, and commitment. Changing old habits and developing new ones will not happen overnight. The following guidelines are meant to help you achieve all of your New Year’s Resolutions:

Focus on one resolution at a time. Make a list of your resolutions, prioritize them, and validate each of them.  Do they make sense to focus on right now?  It is wiser to focus on the right resolution than to start one you are not committed to.

Create a sense of accountability. Designate a friend, mentor, or companion for sharing successes, monitoring progress, and offering support. The benefit of involving others in your goals and plans is instant access to experience, knowledge, and wisdom— it also raises the bar of responsibility.

Research indicates that one of the qualities of those who are successful at making changes is that they have excellent support systems. Many of those who make resolutions never tell others about them. Consciously or subconsciously, that way if they fail no one will view them as a failure.

Communicating your resolution and intentions actually increases your accountability to the behavior. From the very beginning it is important to share your objectives and goals with those around you so that you can enlist their support. Knowing that you are accountable to someone other than yourself will help to keep you on track.

Persist until completed. A resolution achieved is a stunning example of consistency and hard work. If you fall behind schedule or are sidetracked for any reason, refocus! Just DO NOT give up! Do not surrender to temptation, difficulty or temporary failure. Persist until you achieve the goal.

Cultivate personal integrity. Integrity gives you the oxygen needed to cross the finish line of accomplishment. Your commitment determines your level of success. This commitment boils down to two essential tactics: DAILY ACTION AND REVIEW.

I wish you a New Year of health and happiness. Believe in yourself and you will achieve!

Good Luck and Happy 2019!

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT: Small Changes can mean Big Results!

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECTHave you heard of the “butterfly effect?”  Where one small change at one place has large effects elsewhere:  such as the beating of a butterfly’s wings causing small changes that, when magnified, cause a shift in weather.  Yet, how does this apply to our daily lives?

One way is to realize that our small actions add up to create big results.  For example, try waking up 20 minutes earlier each day and using the extra time to be productive.  Twenty minutes less sleep does not sound like much but multiply that over a year’s time and you have added 121.6 hours to your productive time!

At Premier Concierge, our purpose is to add value to your life by taking on tasks you cannot find the time to do yourself and help you apply the “butterfly effect” to your life.  Think of how you could use that time for greater productivity!

Simple tasks like running errands, paying your bills, managing home repair projects, or planning an event can be overwhelming.  Let us handle your to-do list so you can live your life to the fullest each day.  Call Premier Concierge today and let us show you our “butterfly effect”!

Cancer is scary. And, cancer is scary expensive.

For many people, insurance pays for some of the treatment expense but there are additional costs that are not covered. The patient and family end up being devastated not only by the disease but financially devastated too.

My friend Malcolm Upton is fighting cancer and I hope you will join me in helping him and his young family with the financial battle.  Malcolm and I have been friends and worked together for more than 15 years.  He is an excellent, dependable and trustworthy handyman in addition to being a good and decent man and father. Now he could use our help fighting cancer.

Malcolm’s sister, Charlotte Bietsch, has launched a fundraising campaign to honor Malcolm, selling t-shirts and opening a GoFundMe site.  “My brother and his wife have had a lot of ups and downs during this roller coaster in their life. I want to thank everyone who has purchased a t-shirt or donated to help his family. We thank you in every way possible and God bless you.”

Please see the link below for the t-shirts.  Orders must be received by 3/19/18. On the back is a quote from Malcolm: “I refuse to let cancer cause me to sink.” Way to go Malcolm!

5 Tips for Keeping your New Year’s Resolution

How you plan to reach your goals and keep your resolutions for 2018?

As 2018 gets started, many of us are turning our focus to achieving more of our resolutions or goals this year. Besides “willpower,” what else can we do to increase our chances of reaching our goals and resolutions? Check out the following 5 tips of practical ways to reach your resolutions in 2018.

Premier concierge advocates for self care1.Include a resolution to care for yourself. Too often our resolutions are oriented toward making changes to ourselves and while that is good, remember to care for yourself. Include time for healing, renewal and rest.

2.Keep resolutions simple. While it sounds good to plan for a totally new you, we are better off setting simple, short-term goals that when complete give us a sense of accomplishment. Most people overestimate what they can do in the short run and underestimate what they can do in the long run.

3.Make notes. The act of writing and claiming can be an effective form of motivation. Making notes allows us to see our progress and find ways to our resolutions.

pivot4.Learn to “pivot.” Pivoting is a term used by business startups as a way to describe a change in direction. In other words, if one way does not work, stop going that way and find another way or a new direction.

5.Remember, you are in charge. When we set goals and resolutions, we are doing so based on the best information available at the time. Yet, life has a way of changing. Since you are in charge of your destiny, you can change your resolutions and goals as new information becomes available.

For a bonus tip, remember to ask for help from family, friends and service providers. Sometimes others can see ways of helping you achieve resolutions that you may not see. At the end of the year, you may be grateful that you sought assistance and achieved your resolutions.

Best of luck in 2018!

Dana Drago, Volunteer of the Year for Mi Escuelita School

“A special message of love and hope.”

Dana Drago, Volunteer of the Year for Mi Escuelita SchoolMany of you may know of my best friend, Dana Drago who passed away this year due to early-onset Alzheimer’s. What you may not know is how Dana gave of herself to others. She was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year for Mi Escuelita School where she taught yoga to preschool children. Mi Escuelita is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Dallas/Ft Worth with multiple locations. Since 1978, they have helped preschool-age children receive an affordable qualified and enriching education.

The award ceremony was held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas and attended by Dana’s friends and former co-workers from Comerica Bank. When I received the award on Dana’s behalf, I offered a few brief comments about Dana.

“…After retiring from a rewarding career at Comerica, Dana searched for ways to make a positive impact in the community.  She brought her love for yoga and her amazing positive attitude to the children and staff at Mi Escuelita.  Even as she battled this unforgiving disease, she and I prepared weekly yoga classes for the children at Mi Escuelita each with a special message of love and hope.  Although this gave Dana a source of comfort and purpose, she told me many times the children gave back more to her than she could ever have imagined…”

Enjoy the pictures and please consider supporting Alzheimer’s research.
